Meditation as Life Art:
Meditation is a life art; a vital resource, not only for our resilience as individuals, but for our flourishing as a species. There are many types of meditation available today; this course gives you a taste of some of them (including mindfulness). Whether or not you are religious/spiritual; whether or not you already have meditation experience, you are welcome to join and enjoy the benefits of practicing this life art together.
Course Description:
The 6-week course is given in English. Each weekly session (of 2 hours) includes the introduction and practice of different meditation forms; a period of reflection, journaling, and a sharing of experience. Each session is like a mini-retreat; the atmosphere simple, silent and spacious.
Who may benefit from the course?
Maybe you have followed meditation courses alone, or online, and now want to share your meditation learning and practice in company with others. Perhaps you are concerned about pressing environmental issues and want to find a stable centre, from which to act authentically. Maybe you are an artist, photographer or writer exploring meditation as part of a creative practice. Perhaps you are orienting to life in Dutch culture after relocating from abroad, and are looking for a meditation community. Or maybe you simply want to bring more clarity and peaceful presence to everyday life.
If you have no previous experience of meditation – this course offers a simple, solid grounding from which to evaluate which resources may be best for you, and how you may want to develop your meditation practice further.
If you already have meditation experience - this course is an opportunity to broaden your experience of a variety of meditation forms, while reflecting on, and refreshing your established practice.

Trained and experienced in teaching, retreat leading, and facilitating spiritual support groups, I have lived and worked in several countries. Since moving to Amsterdam in 1999, my daily meditation practice has gone hand in hand with explorations in creative writing and contemplative photography. Meditation has helped me get through serious illness, so I am well aware of its health benefits. But even more than this, I appreciate the way it helps me sample the simplicity of what is; the sheer pleasure of being relieved of the weight of names, stories, judgements and opinions.The delight of meditation for me, comes from the adventure of getting to know a deeper intelligence, which is totally inaccessible to the conceptual mind. When practiced over time, meditation can help bring more kindness to ourselves and others, contributing to the evolution of a saner world, and I am passionate about helping meditation become an art for life - for the sake of us all.

Cost of Course: €155,00
