Graveyards have provided endless inspiration for me over the years. This new book not only records my photographic explorations in some of the many graveyards I’ve visited, it is also a meditation. Graveyard photography offers me a way of slowing down, and savoring the experience of being-in-common-with-nature. I wanted the book to show what happens when the camera draws me into that deep looking and listening 'place', which leads not only to art-making, but also to discoveries and surprising meetings. I wanted to convey what it is like to be immersed in the continuum: the de-generating, re-generating, intimate landscape; the simple beauty, delight and pleasure of life.
